If you don't want to spend all day searching for the latest "tools" to patch up past mistakes try taking your computer into the shop BEFORE it's broke. Many times minor problems are solved before you suffer the dreaded "Data Loss". You know, the last pictures you took of Aunt Tilley's mom at the Christening? Data retrieval from a "broke" computer is costly and not guaranteed.
A tune up will test at least the memory and harddrive integrity before one of them trashes your data. Sometimes parts break right now but mostly there was some warning before it broke. That's what a tune up will try to find.
Please back up your data regularly!
